A WOMAN BEREAVED

She moans, she weeps,
Until she falls asleep
Her body slumped in a heap
Unable to contain her lean body

She is mourning
Nightfalls and comes morning
No one comforts her
She lives alone and far
Now that her son is gone
She has no will to go on
What’s the need in living?
When her pride and joy
Her son, her little boy
Left for the underworld
She finds no need for this world
All she wants is to join him
To kiss, tickle and cuddle him
To fill the warmth of his breath
Next to her reaching for her breast
She yearns for his tender little eyes
So calm like a starry filled night sky
He was her pillar
Emotions begin to fill her.
Her motherly heart can only take so much
She makes her way to the church
With one last breath of strength
She mutters a few words to God
“Dear God, My lord.
Forgive my sins
How have you been since?
It’s been long since I was here.
I know you alone my problems can hear
My heart is weak and my will dim
Anger fills me to the brim.
Many answered questions.
I am bitter but it’s not my intention.
But, why him heavenly father?
He was very young sir.
He was my one and only
Now I’m left wretched and lonely
Make this breath I take my last
To unite me with my son at dusk.
I cannot live for another day
On this very day
I pray that,
Mother and son meet again
That will ease the pain.
Locked in one another’s embrace.
Tears freely flowing down our faces.
Joy without measure.
Holding onto that moment like treasure.
Happiness so profound
Free together and unbound
This is all i dreams
From her reverie so it would seem.
until then i'd rather not be alive"
